French TV5 Network, Websites Taken Over In Hacking Attack Claimed By Pro-ISIS Group

A French-language TV station broadcast around the world, was reportedly hacked by ISIS, halting broadcasts for about three hours. TV5Monde's Facebook page and website were also hijacked, and network director Yves Bigot said operations were "severely damaged."

New Law In France Permits Government To Block Suspected Terrorism Websites Without Court Order

A new decree that went into effect today allows the French government to block websites accused of promoting terrorism and publishing child pornography, without seeking a court order.

United States Counterterrorism Policy Is Failing

The U.S. approach to countering violent extremism is failing badly. Our current “light footprint,” counter-terrorism approach, posits that a combination of precisely targeted drone strikes, U.S. special forces raids, and training small, elite units of local forces can kill enough of the extremists’ “core” leadership to render those groups incapable. But, there has never been a strategy behind this hope, never an articulated theory of the case to explain where we were headed.

Are Most Victims of Terrorism Muslim?

 After the Charlie Hebdo attack, a Paris imam went to the scene and condemned the murders. "These victims are martyrs, and I shall pray for them with all my heart," said Hassen Chalghoumi (above). He was also quoted as saying that 95% of victims of terrorism are Muslim. How accurate is this statistic?

Charlie Hebdo Attack: French Police Name Two Brothers As Suspects

French police have named two brothers as suspects in the attack on the Paris offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, as a manhunt continues.
