Two United States, U.S-based organisations, 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative and Stefanus Foundation, have ranked Boko Haram as the most lethal terrorist group in the world.

United States Transfers Guantanamo Bay Detainees To Ghana

Two Yemeni detainees held at the controversial US military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been transferred to Ghana. The Pentagon said Khalid al-Dhuby had been approved for release since 2006 and Mahmoud Omar Bin Atef since 2009.

Al-Qaeda Operative Pleads Guilty to Terrorism Charges

An al-Qaeda operative has pleaded guilty to terrorism charges. Saddiq al-Abbadi pleaded guilty Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court to conspiracy to murder American troops abroad and to providing material support to a terrorist group.

United States Counterterrorism Policy Is Failing

The U.S. approach to countering violent extremism is failing badly. Our current “light footprint,” counter-terrorism approach, posits that a combination of precisely targeted drone strikes, U.S. special forces raids, and training small, elite units of local forces can kill enough of the extremists’ “core” leadership to render those groups incapable. But, there has never been a strategy behind this hope, never an articulated theory of the case to explain where we were headed.
