Nigeria Police Confirms Killing of Four Police Officers By Fulani Herdsmen in Benue State

The Benue State Police Command has lost four of its men to the current Fulani insurgency ravaging some local government areas of the state.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu, has disclosed to Daily Sun that the Police Command has lost four of its men to the current Fulani insurgency ravaging some local government areas of the state.

He further explained that out of the four slain mobile policemen, two were killed in Buruku Local Government while the other two were killed in Agatu Local Government area of the state.

It would be recalled that the state Governor, Samuel Ortom recently raised the alarm that nine out if the 23 local government areas in the state have been ravaged by the Fulani herdsmen.

The police spokesman however assured that with the efforts of the State Commissioner of Police, Dibal Yakadi, normalcy, peace and orderliness was gradually returning to the affected areas.

He advised both the farmers and the Fulani herdsmen to embrace peace and allow security operatives currently in the crisis prone areas to do their work so that the victims who are presently taken refuge in internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps can return to their homes.

“This is cropping season and the people need to return to their farms, hence the need for both sides to embrace peace to allow security operatives currently in the crisis areas do their work.”
