Operatives of the anti-kidnap Unit,Enugu Police Command have arrested two University undergraduates who have been at large, having allegedly masterminded the gruesome killing of a United States of America, USA, returnee, Mrs. Stella Uhuo on November 14, 2015 along Enugu-Abakaliki expressway.
The suspects, James Okoh and Victor Uchenna Okefie both of whom have had acquaintance with the deceased, were at Akanu-Ibiam International Airport, Emene, Enugu to pick the returnee from USA on the behest of the deceased, and equally conveyed her with luggages to Abakaliki.
It was gathered that the duo, final year Sociology students of the said University,from Amata in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State conveyed the deceased in a Volvo with number plate LAGOS EKY 855 CY towards Abakaliki, but vied off to a lonely road at the middle of the journey.
They were said to have ordered her out of the vehicle but the deceased offered resistance prompting them to allegedly pounce on her, beating her to death. Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the arrest of the suspects to newsmen in a statement saying,”on noticing that the woman had given up the ghost, they (suspects) brought her to a dustbin located along Enugu-Abakiliki expressway and dumped the corpse.
“They quickly ransacked her luggages and made away with all the items contained therein including some dollars, male clothes and i-pads among others. The suspects have been at large since committing the dastardly act until the operatives who had been on their trail recently nabbed Okoh on January 29, in his hostel at Ebonyi State while Okefie was trailed to his parents house at Ajaokuta in Kogi State on January 31,where he was nabbed. “They are now regretting their illicit act , pointing out that it was not their intention to kill the woman but to collect the valuables and escape.”
