Gunmen Kidnap University Professor In Rivers State, Nigeria

Punch Newspaper reports that a band of unknown gunmen have abducted the Director of Centre for Continuing Education, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Professor M.E. Ogburie.
The professor was said to have been taken away by his captors on Monday, barely three days after he buried his late father.

Ogburie was said to have been kidnapped in his hometown, Elele in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Though the kidnappers have since established contact with the family of their victim, no ransom has been demanded so far.

RSUST Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Blessing Didia, confirmed Ogburie’s abduction and pleaded with the victim’s captors to release him unconditionally.

However, efforts made by our correspondent to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, to react to the development proved futile as calls to his mobile phone were not answered while a text message to his phone was also not replied.
