Boko Haram Ambush Nigerian Troops, Kill Lt. Colonel, Others Injured

Daily Post reports that a Lieutenant-Colonel on Wednesday lost his life during a battle between troops and members of the Boko Haram sect.
The sect had ambushed the convoy at a town along Bama/Konduga axis.

A source told DAILY POST that the troops were travelling in a convoy of 3 Hilux vehicles when the Boko Haram fighters emerged and opened fire.

Although some Boko Haram insurgents were killed, a number of the troops suffered serious injuries as the terrorists were believed to have outnumbered them.

The fallen Lt. Col., who was one of those with severe wounds, gave up the ghost after battling for his life.

Our correspondent learnt that others are currently receiving treatment.
