A cousin to Chief Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa state and gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming December 5 election, Krinpere Douglas, has been kidnapped.
The Nation learnt that Douglas was kidnapped on Monday by gunmen.
He was reportedly abducted in the afternoon on the Ogbia-Brass waterway when the gunmen attacked the boat conveying him and other Sylva’s supporters to a campaign in Brass Local Government.
Police spokesman Asinim Butswat said the incident had not been officially reported.
But the Director, Media and Publicity, Sylva/Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO), Mr. Nathan Egba, confirmed the abduction.
He said Douglas was the only one kidnapped.
Egba said: “The victim and others were heading for a campaign. Unfortunately, their boat was attacked by the gunmen, who abducted and took him to an unknown destination.”
