Nigerian Military Set To Destroy Boko Haram Fuel Dumps, Bomb-Making Facilities, Urges Public To Be Alert

MILITARY

In a renewed effort to end Boko Haram insurgency, the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Yusha’u Abubakar, has informed that, with the recoveries of some property at Thursday’s Maiduguri multiple blasts, the military has to degrade and completely eradicate Boko Haram insurgents by destroying their bomb factory houses and other property employed in “terrorists activities and insurgency” in the North East.

Abubakar disclosed this on Saturday, in Maiduguri, at the Maimalari Cantonment, while briefing newsmen on military’s renewed efforts on bringing an end to the Boko Haram insurgency before the end of this year.

He disclosed that the cordoning and search operations in Sajeri areas of Maiduguri blasts scenes, revealed that the demolitions and destructions of all property and facilities of Boko Haram have to be promptly executed by the military and other security agencies.

“Any facility like local bomb-making houses and fuel dumps, are to be demolished immediately by our troops operating in various affected areas and axis of Borno state,” declared Abubakar on the inevitability of decimating Boko Haram.

He however urged Nigerians to complement military’s “demolition exercises” by being security conscious of their respective environments and places of residences, markets and places of worship.

“Open your eyes and ears very well on the suspicious movements of these insurgents that live amongst your communities and villages. We are also going to meet with Stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, market women, traders, students and their teachers, so that we can collectively win the fight against Boko Haram insurgents,” said the Theatre Commander.
