Gunmen Kidnap Younger Brother Of Diezani Allison–Madueke, Nigeria's Minister Of Petroleum

Police say unidentified gunmen, on Thursday, kidnapped Joseph Agama, the younger brother to Diezani Allison-Madueke, Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Asinim Butswat, Police Spokesman for Bayelsa Command, confirmed the development explaining that the Command got a report shortly after the incident happened.

Butswat said the police received a distress call from Maxwell Agama, the victim’s father in the early hours of Thursday.

According to him, the incident occurred at about 12.30 am on Thursday at Yenaka Community, a coastal settlement in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Community sources said that the armed gunmen abandoned their original boat and went off with the victim to an unknown destination.

The kidnappers were yet to establish contact or demand ransom from the victim’s family members as at press time.

Osiyo Agama, a sister to the minister, was kidnapped in Port Harcourt in October 2014 and was later rescued by a combined team of Joint Task Force and Department of State Security Services.
