Local Hunters Kill 80 Boko Haram Members, Recapture Maiha

Local Hunters
At least 80 members of the Boko Haram sect were reportedly killed n Wednesday in a battle with local hunters in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

One of the hunters, who spoke with our correspondent in Yola, said that the capture of Mahia town on Monday by the insurgents irked the local hunters in the town to mobilize other hunters in their neighbouring communities to team up against the insurgents in order to recapture the town.

He said the hunters fought gallantly, killed 80 of the insurgents and recaptured Mahia local government headquarters from them.

The hunter said it is the military authorities that are preventing them from dislodging the insurgents because they are not constituted security forces and cannot be trusted with the country’s safety.

He appealed to the military authorities to scrutinize them and authorize them to face the Boko Haram insurgents in a battle which he believed that the hunters will defeat the insurgents.

“If the military can authorize us and give us backups, we will wipe out the insurgents because we know their hideouts and if it is JuJu, we also have it and we can identify them.

“Boko Haram fear us because they know what we can do; let the military leave us with Boko Haram and see what is going to happen. We took advantage of the fact that the soldiers have fled the area and we used the opportunity to kill and chase some of the insurgents out of Mahia,” he said
