Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Reportedly Burn 500 Houses, Kill Over 4,000 People in Southern Kaduna

The Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna People’s Union, has observed with dismay that the unabated alleged Fulani attacks in the area since 2010 have resulted in the burning down of over 500 houses and the killing of over 4,000 people, mostly women and children.

There seem to be no respite for farmers in Benue State Benue as report indicates that suspected dare-devil Fulani Herdsmen on Friday night, raided Tarfi village, Binnev Ward, in Buruku local government area and killed about 12 people.

Reprisal Attack? Herdsmen, 83 Cows Reportedly Killed in Nasarawa

Daily Trust newspaper reports that plausibly 20 herdsmen and 83 cows were reportedly killed over the weekend in Adayi and Loko areas of Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa State by gunmen suspected to be from the riverine areas of Benue and Nasarawa states.

Vanguard newspaper reports that a non-academic staff of the Delta State University, Abraka, Mr. John Ogeleke, was yesterday kidnapped at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

OPC Threatens To Retaliate Fulani Herdsmen Attacks

The Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC has threatened to pay the Fulani Herdsmen back in their own coin if they don’t stop threatening the peace of Yoruba land and it’s people. The OPC lamented on the continuous and repeated attacks by the Fulani Herdsmen on the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae adding that if such situations persists, they’ll be forced to retaliate in greater folds.

Vanguard newspaper reports that notwithstanding the recent outcry that trailed the killings and sacking of Agatu communities by suspected Fulani militia, the marauders have, again, laid siege to Logo Local Government Area of the state, killing two and sacking over 25 villages.

Notwithstanding ongoing peace efforts been brokered by various stakeholders and an 'investigation' ordered by President Buhari to unravel the causes and to proffer solutions to the recent Agatu killings, Daily Post newspaper reports that no fewer than eight persons have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack on Benue communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday in Logo local government area of the state.

Sporadic clashes between nomadic Fulani herdsmen and locals, landowners or farmers in the nook and cranny of Nigeria have claimed thousands of innocent lives, led to loss of properties worth millions of Naira and there seem to be no end in sight to this ugly, routine phenomenon. While Boko Haram overtook ISIS as the world's deadliest terrorist organisation going by fatalities, the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) ranked Fulani Herdsmen as the 4th deadliest terrorist organization in the world in its 2015 ranking. The GTI reckons that, ‘’Fulani militants in the northern part of Nigeria killed as many as 1,229 people in the country in 2014’’.

Fulani Herdsmen Attack Enugu Community Kill Two, 19 Missing

Palpable fear and confusion has gripped Abbi Community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State, following the invasion of the area by Fulani herdsmen who unleashed mayhem on the people, killing a brother and sister apart from razing down about seven houses and several motorcycles. Altogether, 19 persons were declared missing in the community even as several others were also wounded with machetes by the invaders.
