Nigeria Loses $80bn Annually to Vandalisation of Oil Facilities in The Niger Delta – Petroleum Minister

Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, on Friday said Nigeria is losing at least $80 billion annually  to vandalization of oil facilities in Nigeria's oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Niger Delta Militants Blow Up Pipeline After VP Osinbajo's Visit

An unidentified militant group in the Niger Delta have blown up a crude oil trunkline in Ughelli, Delta State, barely 24 hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led a Federal Government delegation to the region, the Punch reports.

Nigeria Loses 130m Barrels of Crude Oil To Militancy in 2016

Nigeria has lost over 130 million barrels of crude oil from January to November this year to the activities of 32 militant groups in the Niger Delta region since the resurgence of militancy in the oil-producing region in 2015, the Vice-Chairman of the Security Subcommittee of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Mr. Shina Bankole, has said.

Signaling a relapse to militancy in the Niger Delta, report indicates that in addition to the Niger Delta Avengers, a fresh militant group which goes by the moniker - "Red Egbesu Water Lions" - has emerged in the region.
