Seized Russian Airplane:Nigerian Government ReleasesWeapons-Laden Aircraft

The aircraft was heading from Bangui in the Central African Republic to Ndjamena, the capital of Chad
when it was impounded by the officials on Saturday, December 6.

The Nigerian government has ordered the release of a weapons-laden Russian airplane which was seized by
security officials at the Aminu Kano Airport in Kano.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu , stated on Monday, December 8, that the government has approved the release of the aircraft.

France has claimed the contents of the plane saying the cargo belongs to its peacekeeping force while Russia has said that the plane was hired by the French government to convey the military hardware to the
Central African Republic.
