Attack On Expats In Gombe, NE Nigeria, Claim 3 Policemen, Civilians

Gunmen on Saturday killed three Policemen and three civilians during an attack on some expatriates working for TRIACTA construction company in Buba Shango of Jakadafari district in Gombe, the state capital.

Boko Haram Child Suicide Bomber Kills Six in Borno, NE Nigeria

A child suicide bomber detonated hiexplosives, killing himself, two other bombers and six people in Nigeria’s northeast, in the latest bloodshed blamed on Boko Haram Islamist group, the army said on Monday.

Gunmen Kidnap Governor Dickson’s Sister, One Other In Bayelsa

Vanguard newspaper reports that a 26-year-old lady, Nancy Keme Dickson, has been kidnapped by armed men at the Okaka suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. The gunmen also seized her sales girl.

Security Mapping: Guide To Threats, Crime And Terrorism Hotbeds In Nigeria (Part 2)




This project is aimed at mapping or collating salient risks, threats, safety concerns, crime, terrorism or violence extremism hotspots representative of Nigeria’s cities and 36 states of the country. Amonsgt other issues, I chronicled representative threats, violent crimes etc representative of Lagos state. Read part 1 of the essay here if you missed it. The current tranche is a continuation of the eralier essay. Part two of this research encompasses hreats, violent crimes characteristic of the outstanding 5 states in south west Nigeria (Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Lagos and Ondo) and the 5 states in south east Nigeria (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.)

The Nigerian government on Friday raised the alarm that Boko Haram terrorists operating in the northeast are planning to abduct school pupils, students or foreigners in a desperate effort to raise funds, through ransom, for food, medical and arms supply.

Gunmen Kidnap Two Catholic Priests in Delta, Nigeria


Two Catholic priests were reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Aniocha area of Delta State. The victims, identified as Reverend Father Franklyn Odiaka, and Rev Father Moses Nwaonwochei were kidnapped at Obior in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State on their way from a special prayer service.

U.S Homeland Security Revamps Terror Alert System, To Include Bulletins Warning of Threats

WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson activated the National Terrorism Advisory System for the first time Wednesday, warning the public of "self-radicalized actors who could strike with little or no notice."

Nigeria Jails Bangladeshi, Filipino Sailors For Oil Smuggling



 A court in Nigeria on Tuesday gave five sailors from the Philippines and four from Bangladesh a choice between jail and paying a hefty fine after convicting them of oil smuggling.

Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen Kill 22 in Borno, Plateau States

Not less than 22 persons were on Sunday feared killed in separate attacks in Borno and Plateau States. While eight persons were killed and several houses burnt down in separate attacks on Mangari and Warawara villages in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists 14 were killed by suspected Fulani attackers at Kwata in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Heavy Gunfire In Zaria As Army Attempts To Arrset Shiite Muslim Leader - Zakzaky

There was heavy fighting late Saturday night which lasted into the early hours of Sunday, between men of the Nigerian army and members of the Islamic movement of Nigeria also known as Shiite, following the surrounding of the house of leader of the movement, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, by troops.
