Amnesty Opposes Death Penalty for Convicted Soldiers

Global human rights advocacy group, Amnesty International, has opposed the death sentence passed on 12 Nigerian soldiers by a military court in Abuja for mutiny, among other offenses.

First Womb-Transplant Baby Born In Sweden

A woman in Sweden has become the first in the world to have a baby boy after having a womb transplant.
The 36-year-old, who was born without a uterus, gave birth by caesarean section last month after receiving a womb donated by a friend.

Boko Haram Releases Video Purportedly Showing Beheading of Missing Nigerian Air Force Pilot

Boko Haram sect in a new video released Friday claimed responsibility for the downing of the Nigerian Air Force jet which was declared missing on September 11 by the military authorities while on official duties in Adamawa State.

Suspected Fulani Herdsman Kill Soldier, 12 Others in Fresh Plateau Attack

No fewer than 13 people, including a soldier have been killed as some suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Lwa, Dum, Rachit and Dyang villages in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of Friday. Two soldiers were also said to be missing in the attack.
