Militants Kill Four Marine Policemen in Rivers State, South-South Nigeria

Gunmen have killed four marine policemen and made away with a gunboat, off Abonnema community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. It was gathered that the gunmen hijacked the gunboat belonging to the Marine Police Division, with four policemen on board, who where on routine patrol of the Abonnema waterways.

Three soldiers attached to the Joint Task Force, code-named Operation Delta Safe were allegedly killed on Monday morning in Nembe, a riverine area of Bayelsa State, South-South Nigeria.

Niger Delta Avengers Refute Claims of Splinter Faction

Just yesterday, SaharaReporters and some press platforms reported of a crack within the ranks of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA. The reports claimed that a splinter faction purportedly known as the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) has emerged from the NDA and promises to expose those behind attacks on Oil installations. The purported split was allegedly announced in a statement signed by one Cynthia White.

National Security: How Militants, Terrorists Acquire Improvised Explosives Devices Components From Fertiliser Manufacturers

Nigeria's National Security Adviser, NSA, Major General Babagana Mongonu (rtd) on Thursday revealed that explosives experts dispatched to conduct investigations into the incessant bombing attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria have uncovered the diversion of about 9, 000kg of high explosives and 16, 420 pieces of detonators for illegal use.

Military Launches “Operation Delta Safe” In The Niger Delta 

The Nigerian military has scrapped its joint military task force in the restive Niger Delta.
The task force, nicknamed Operation Pulo Shield, is to be replaced by “Operation Delta Safe”, the director of defense information, said in a statement.

Proliferation of Militancy Continue in the Niger Delta, Latest Group Demands 60% Oil Bloc, Issue Ultimatum

Punch Newspaper reports that a new militant group, Ultimate Warriors of Niger Delta (UWND), has emerged in the Niger Delta. The group threatens to continue attacking oil and gas facilities across the Niger Delta region unless the Nigerian government agrees to award 60 per cent oil blocs to the people of the region.

In a statement on Monday, 06/06/2016, one of the militant groups in the Niger Delta known as the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF), on Monday reiterated its earlier decision to unleash six missiles on Nigeria. Recall that the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force release a statement last week threatening to unleash its missiles on some parts of the country on Tuesday 07/06/2016.  Now the JNDLF has released a list of targets advising those occupying such abodes to vacate them or face severe consequences.

Sequel to resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta and a two-week ultimatum by the Niger Delta Avengers for oil companies in the region to shut down operations, Exxon Mobil has reportedly declared force majeure on Qua Iboe crude after an accident the company claimed was not related to militant attacks.
