The kidnap saga in Ekiti may have worsened as seven other doctors have allegedly received threat messages that they would be kidnapped.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ekiti chapter, raised the alarm over the kidnap threat yesterday barely one week after five persons; former Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Dr. Patrick Adegun, his wife, Kikelomo, a nurse working with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Mrs Margaret Aladenika, Dr. Femi Omisore, a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State and a yet-to-be fully identified industrialist, simply called Jimi were kidnapped.

Adegun was abducted with his wife a few metres to the gate of their House at the Goshen Avenue, Federal Housing Authority in Ado Ekiti metropolis, while Dr. Omisore was seized on May 6 by gunmen, who shot dead his driver, identified simply as Saheed. Omisore’s vehicle was thereafter set ablaze by the assailants.
The state Chairman of NMA, Dr. John Akinbote, yesterday raised the alarm that another seven doctors had received text messages from kidnappers, notifying them that they could be abducted anytime.
