AFRICA SECURITY FORUM PRESS RELEASE

The leadership of Africa Security Forum is calling on the Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria Armed Forces, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to officially declare Security Infrastructural Emergency because Nigeria operational approach to tackling insecurity is currently not fit for purpose.

In 11 days, Nigeria would be celebrating 59 years of independence and across the length and breadth of the country; the perception of criminality and fear of crime is increasing rather than decreasing.

Nigeria ranking of the Global Terrorism Index is still number three whilst on the Global Peace Index, we are ranking 148 out of 163 countries with the cost of violence engulfing 11% of Nigeria GDP

It is now time for Mr. President to declare a State of Emergency in Nigeria Security Infrastructure because the war of terrorism and violent extremism can not be won with analogue strategy.

Africa Security Forum is calling on Nigeria President to:

1. Issue Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for serving chiefs and the other law enforcement agencies.

2. Setup a Presidential Security Advisory Council that would advise Mr President on the real status of Nigeria security infrastructure and offer recommendation on improving security.

3. Inject the skill-set Nigeria Diaspora Security Personnels who are ready to serve their fatherland but excluded.

Nigerians deserve a better security infrastructure and Nigeria President should make Nigeria a safer place for everyone that advocate PEACE

Signed,

Temitope Olodo
President, Africa Security Forum
