Gunmen Attack Churches in Kaduna, Kill One, Kidnap Pastor, 11 Others

Daredevil gunmen reportedly killed one Obadiah Samson and kidnapped others at Guguwa village after Rigasa, a suburb of Kaduna State.

They launched attack on churches in Birnin-Gwari yesterday, kidnapping a pastor (name withheld) and 11 other church members, including his daughter and the son of another pastor.

The victims are members of Nasara Baptist Church, Guguwa.

Report further alleged that Obadiah was gruesomely killed before his pregnant wife.

Similarly, a pastor, his daughter and nine other church members were kidnapped between Saturday evening and early hours of yesterday in the church premises.

Efforts by our correspondent to get the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kaduna, DSP Yakubu Sabo, and his deputy did not yield result.

Meanwhile, Rev. Nath Waziri, (Zaria DCC secretary) released the information to journalists in Kaduna.

He stated in a text message: “Sad to inform you that one of our pastors, his daughter and nine other members of his ECWA Church, Dankade, were kidnapped in the early hours of today (Sunday). Let’s pray for God’s intervention and deliverance.”

Also, the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Birnin-Gwari Council, Emmanuel Ibrahim, further confirmed the incident to our correspondent on phone.

He said: “The abductors invaded the church around 7pm on Saturday during a programme in the branch under Zaria Council.

“The church hosted a combined choir fellowship on Saturday night till the early hours of today (Sunday). When the gunmen came, they asked everyone in the church to surrender their phones and demanded the whereabouts of the pastor.

“After threatening the choristers, they became afraid and showed them the pastor’s home.

They took him (pastor) and his daughter away with nine others, including the son of the pastor of Assemblies of God Church.”
