Gunmen Tuesday night kidnapped the Anglican Bishop of Ahoada Diocese, Rt. Reverend Clement Ekpeye at Ahoada in Ahoada east Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Confirming the incident to journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, the Diocesan Secretary, Uchendu Ejioho, said the gun wielding bandits broke into the bishop’s court, the cleric’s official residence, at Odiemerenyi Ahoada at about 7.00pm and abducted him.
Ejioho called on the people of the state to pray for the unconditional release of the cleric.
When contacted, the spokesman of the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the story, saying the command had deployed its men in the area to rescue the clergyman.
