Gunmen Kidnap Twin Would-be Brides, 15 Others in Zamfara State

Gunmen reportedly abducted twin would-be brides and 15 others in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state, Daily Trust gathered.

The would – be brides and their sister were kidnapped in Dauran village when they visited their sister in her matrimonial home in preparation for their wedding ceremony slated for the end of the year.
Their father Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf Dauran said the girls, Hassana and Hussaina who are both 16 years of age went to showcase the material for “Anko” in preparation for their wedding when the incident happened.“They decided to spend a night in their sister’s home and even the sister herself, Sumayya, 20, doesn’t sleep in her home owing to the fear she had been nursing over the spate of kidnappings across the state. Her husband is also not around, but she decided to sleep with her sisters when they came calling,” he said.

Their father further explained that when the gunmen struck they forcefully opened the door by removing it entirely. Then they went away with girls after they kidnapped four others in the community.
” We were able to establish contact with the kidnappers and they demanded N150 million from me. I told them I had never seen that kind of money. We have lost sleep over the incident and we could not eat much because of the terrible situation, ” he added.
The vice chairman of Zurmi local government area Alhaji Abubakar Dauran said the state is in a difficult situation and something urgent most be done to curtail it.
He said nowhere is safe in Zamfara as kidnappers and armed bandits are having a field day adding that in recent times more than 15 people were kidnapped in 5 communities of his local government.
