New Telegraph Newspaper reports that gunmen, suspected to be cultists, have abducted six persons in Edeoha community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria.
This came barely a month after gunmen attacked the area and killed some persons. According to reports, the suspected cultists stormed the community on Friday evening, and went after their targets, including a chief, a man and wife, among other victims.
A source said those abducted included Chief Leo Ahamefula, Mrs. Abule, Mr. and Mrs. Success Nwanodi, Nenka Atomic and Mrs. Natty.
In early May, gunmen attacked Ulu-Akpata and Edeoha communities in Ahoada East and killed about 11 persons before setting them on fire in two separate attacks.
A source said that there were no security operatives when the gunmen attacked Edeoha, explaining that soldiers had been deployed in the area in the aftermath of the May attack by suspected cultists. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ahmad Mohammad, said he was not aware of the incident.
Similarly, The Nation newspaper also have it that gunmen have Kidnapped a Customary Court judge in Kogi while his Orderly was killed by the assailants.
Barely one year after a judge of the Kogi State High Court, Justice Samuel Obayomi was kidnapped and his police orderly killed, a judge of the Customary Court of Appeal in the state, Mr. Isaq Momoh Jimoh Usman has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen.
His police orderly was reportedly killed during the incident which occurred along the Itakpe – Kuroko road Sunday evening while they were returning to Lokoja.
The judge was said to have travelled to his village over the weekend and was returning to Lokoja when the suspected gunmen stopped his car along the Okene – Itakpe bye pass in Okehi local government.
It was learnt that the suspected kidnappers mowed down the police orderly immediately while the driver of the judge received bullet wounds, before their victim was taken to unknown destination.
