The Logistics Command of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF Ikeja Lagos, yesterday, launched the Harmonised Military Woodland camouflage, recently adopted by the management of Defence, with a charge to its personnel to guard against the uniform getting into wrong hands.
The harmonised camouflage as explained by the Air Officer Commanding, AOC Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Mohammadu Mohammed, became necessary following its proliferation among several security, para-military and civil security outfits, a development he said posed dire implications to national security.
The Nigerian Airforce according to him, was expected to distribute 13,000 pairs of the woodland camouflage. But so far, he informed that the initial delivery of 4,000 pairs had been distributed to personnel on internal security, with the rest to be distributed soon. On completion of the issuance to all personnel, the AOC said the old camouflage would be retrieved and destroyed, threatening that thereafter any one found with the old camouflage would be prosecuted.
He informed that the harmonised camouflage were of two types; the desert camouflage which is used in the northern part of the country while the woodland camouflage is used in the south.
The AOC also visited 401 Aircraft Maintenance Depot , Ikeja where the re-configuration of the C-130 aircraft for executive airlift was ongoing, as well as the 105 Communication Depot in Shasha area of the state, where he inspected three key projects which included the construction of six flats of three bedroom each for married officers; two blocks of four class rooms each and a 6.7 kilometres drainage system.
