A fresh attack by the Islamic sect- Boko Haram, at Bara
town of Gulani local government area of Yobe state has reportedly left many
residents dead.
In the recent attack at Yobe state, the Islamist sect-
Boko Haram burnt several houses down, and many residents are feared dead.
Daily post reports that a top police officer who
confirmed the attack said the Yobe state commissioner of police, Zannah Ibrahim
had since rushed to the scene of the attack to assess the extent of havoc
wrecked on the town.
However, the official did not give any casualty figure.
The town which currently lacks basic amenities and
telecom services due to militants incessant vandalism was again raided on
Wednesday, October 28.
Residents said the militants burnt down houses, shops,
foodstuffs, among other valuables, using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Mallam Sule Yaji, a resident who spoke to newsmen in
Damaturu, said: “They stormed the town chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ as locals took
to their heels into the bushes for safety.”
Yaji disclosed that the insurgents who arrived the town
in large numbers burnt several houses during the coordinated attack.
According to him, some of the residents caught up in
the houses set ablaze were receiving treatment at Bajoga Hospital in neighbouring
Gombe state.
