The Borno Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of nine persons after suspected Boko Haram insurgents’ attacked Mailari Village in Konduga Local Government Area.
Aderemi Opadoku, the Commissioner of Police, said this while speaking with journalists in Maiduguri.
Mr. Opadokun said the attack occurred on Sunday morning ant “nine persons were reported killed while 10 were injured. The injured victims are now being treated at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.”
He said security has already been beefed up to forestall a recurrence while investigation is in progress.
The Boko Haram insurgency in northern Nigeria has caused the death of about 20,000 people since it started in 2009; although the Nigerian military has recently had lots of successes against the insurgents including retaking lost territory.
