Eid-el Fitr: Nigeria Police Boss Call For Vigilance, Orders Tight Security

Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered tight security for Nigerians across the country to ensure a violence free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Eid-el-Fitr is an Islamic festival to mark the end of the month of Ramadan fast.

Arase directed Command Commissioners of the Police force nationwide to improve vigilance and look out for vulnerable points that were prone to attacks from terrorists.

He gave the directive in a statement issued in Abuja and made available to journalists.

The statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Force, Emmanuel Ojukwu, instructed that special attention be paid to all places of worship and critical public places.

“The Police High Command is hopeful that the operational strategies adopted by the Force and renewed collaboration with the public will yield positive results,” he said.

The IGP, in the statement, felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria as they conclude the Ramadan fast as he enjoined them and other citizens to maintain utmost vigilance.

“Nigerians should courageously continue to support the police and provide useful information towards preventing and unearthing crimes and their perpetrators,”he added.
