Nigeria Shuts Land Borders Ahead Of Governorship Election

Ahead of the governorship election on Saturday 11 April, the Nigerian government has directed that all land borders be closed from midnight of Thursday to midnight of Sunday for the success of the election.

Declaring the closure, the Interior Ministry said land and sea borders would be closed to allow security agencies monitor activities within the border area.

It further said the air space would still be open for transportation.

The governorship election will hold on April 11 in most states of the federation.
The closure order is coming one week after the one issued before the Presidential election of March 28.
