The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr James Entwistle, has donated a bomb disposal robot and other equipment to the Nigerian Police and assured that his country would continue to support it in the war against insurgency in the country.
According to the Ambassador, the gesture is in it’s continued support to the Nigerian Police force especially as it battles insurgency and in view of the coming elections in 2015.
He assured the Nigerian Police of more support and assistance from the American government.
Entwistle, who described the relations between the US and the Nigeria Police as “historic,” assured that the relationship in terms of personnel training and donation of equipment, would continue.
He said, “The US will continue to stand with the Nigeria Police Force. This is especially the case today for two reasons; the ongoing counter-terrorism struggle and the importance of election security as we head towards a great democratic exercise next February (2015).
“That is a tremendous challenge, and I am confident that the challenge will be met; we stand ready to help.”
On his part, the Inspector-General Of Police, Suleiman Abba, thanked the US government for assisting the Nigeria Police Force in areas of investigation, management of crime scenes as well as the provision of equipment.

He gave the assurances that the Nigerian police will continue to work towards ensuring at the safety of lives
and properties .
He however appealed to the citizenry for support.
“If you do not give us the necessary information, if you do not report incident to us on time, we may not be
able to arrest the situation.
“Let us have the information, we will prevent it from happening, where it happens, tell us immediately and
our response time will be better”, Abba said.
